Course Title

GSE-T581 - Advanced Design Studio

Institutional Affiliation

Technology, Innovation, and Education, Harvard University

Course Description

This

project-based course introduces students to advanced topics in the design and development of online environments for education, including project management, human-centered and educational design strategies, and programming for interactive learning applications

. The Advanced Design Studio provides an opportunity for students to build on their earlier course work in educational technology design and development by working as a member of a project development team. Through supervised collaborative work around a single medium-scale project, students will assume roles in and work through the various stages of a project's life cycle, from analysis and design to development and implementation. The course focal point, the studio project, will be defined by student teams early in the semester. Guest faculty and local professionals will be invited to present their expertise on topics relevant to the design and development of the studio project. Students should have an intermediate level of proficiency in web design and HTML authoring as preparation for exploring interactive web technologies.
