You may have noticed that the L2TD site is slightly different from a regular website - you can edit! The L2TD site is a "wiki" - an editable website that supports collaboration through the easy sharing of ideas and documents. Background on wikis and their value in teaching and learning can be found at: http://www.ascilite.org.au/conferences/perth04/procs/augar.html.

Below is a short tutorial on how to upload resources (e.g. activities, readings, syllabi) into the L2TD space. To get started, open up a second browser window, login to the L2TD site a second time, and upload an actual resource while following this tutorial.

Step 1 - Select Resource

In the left hand navigation bar, choose the type of resource you would like to add. For example, if you have a an activity you would like to share, click on the "Activity" link.

Step 2 - Choose to Add a Resource

You should now be in a particular resource section ("Activities" in our tutorial example). On this page you should see a bold line asking you to "please click here" to add a resource.

Step 3 - Fill in Template

You should now see a template with several empty fields. In our "Activity" example, you will see "Activity Description", "Links", and "Why is this an Important Activity" fields. Fill in each field with information relevant to your resources. For the "Attachments" section, don't worry about this quite yet---you will be given the chance to add attachments later.

Once you are done filling in the fields, click on "Insert Variables" at the bottom.

Step 4 - Review and Add Title

You should now see a partially filled-in page that includes the information you provided in Step 3, along with various formatting tags. At the top of this page you should see a field where you can add a title. Go ahead and put a title in, making sure that it is descriptive of the activity. In our example activity, a good descriptive title might be "Peer Review Activity of Student Projects".

Once you have added your title and reviewed/edited the content (if you choose), click on "Save" near the upper right hand corner.

Step 5a - Add Attachment (optional)

You should now see your completed resource page. At this point you can add one or more attachments if you like. To do so, click on the "Page Operations" link in the left navigation bar and choose "Attachments".

Step 5b - Add Attachment (optional, continued)

You should now see a prompt to browse for a file to add. You can add a comment if you like---this information is used for more accurate searches of attachments.

Once you have chosen your file(s) and added comments (optional), click on "Attach File(s)". It may take a few seconds/minutes to upload your file(s), depending on your network upload speed.

Once the file(s) have uploaded, you will see the name of the file. At this point, you can choose to add another file OR return to the final view of your resource by simply clicking on "Page Operations" in the left navigation bar and choosing "View".

Step 6 - All Done!

You will now see the final view of your resource as represented in the L2TD space. Each resource is treated as a separate page, with its own attachments and comments. You can make changes to the page by choosing "Page Operations" in the left navigation bar and choosing "Edit".

At this point you are done! A message has automatically been sent to the L2TD review staff saying that a new resource has been added. The review staff will check it for completeness within a day and then make it publicly available in the L2TD space.
